So we’re doing a 180 on ya…last year was hot and sweaty and delightful! This year, we’re staying indoors, working together in a whole new way. Here’s what’s been happening for One Shot in 2011:

Writing sketch comedies to film and post on You Tube or our own pages. Not only is it an inspiration to work with like-minded, passionate individuals, it’s a great surprise to see the fun ideas we can collectively produce. We hope you enjoy them as well once we’re finished!
Matt and Melissa moved to Austin, taking One Shot “West” with them…While we continue to produce work here in NYC, we wish them the very best in the Southwest where their artistic lives will flourish. A little Texas-NYC collaboration may be in our future somehow…

AEA has confirmed…the show is a go!!!

The suspense is over! Well, over for us, anyway. You probably didn’t realize there was anything to be suspenseful about! But when it comes to putting up an Equity (actor’s union) show, you’ve got to submit a ton of paperwork and hope that they like your show. Luckily for us, they did!

So, without further ado, here are the performance dates and venues as they stand so far. Stay tuned for more info, because further dates could be showing up here any time…

August 14, Astoria Park, 2:00 pm.

August 15, Oriental Pavilion, Prospect Park, 2:00 pm

August 21 & 22, La Plaza Cultural, East Village, 2:00 pm

August 28 & 29, Central Park, Wild West Playground, 2:00 pm

There will be a small parade before each performance, which will include music, juggling, and other tom foolery performed by our troupe of Zannis! Bring blankets and chairs to sit upon, and water to drink. All the performances are free and open to the public, but we do accept (and deeply appreciate) any donations.

I’m going to sound like such an oldie saying this…

but do you remember when logging on to the internet took a dial tone and about ten minutes of wasted time? I was still fascinated by it, though. I always wanted to know how people made web pages. And now, look at me. Still completely ignorant of the hows and whys, but able to log onto a nifty site like WordPress and crank out my own material on the information highway.

Lucky for you, my apparent non-talent for computer programming has been more than made up for in the theatrical arts. At least, that’s what my mother told me, anyway. This year will mark the inaugural production of our new company…One Shot Productions! *envision me making breathy sub-voiced crowd sounds right…HERE* This summer, in parks across the city (and possibly even Brooklyn), we’ll be performing our new adaptation of Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors. We’re breaking this one down commedia style, with lots of clowning, lazzi, and outrageous staging. I’ll be keeping you posted on future developments, so make sure to check back regularly!
